Toy Story

My childhood didn't have much cartoons, because my mum was quite strict on us. I remember watching some same Mickey Mouse cartoons, Tom & Jerry, and can't remember more than that. :). I wonder if that's why I love to watch cartoons now.

As Eunice is growing, EG has been buying some nice cartoons for her to watch. Toy Story is one of them. I never watch Toy Story before until now, yea, until now 30+ yrs old. :D... When EG showed me and Eunice the first one, I am quite impressed. I thought the story line was not bad. Eunice loves it too. And just like what a normal kid will do, she has been watching Toy Story I for easily 20+ times, until I can remember the whole story line already. Then, EG got her Toy Story II last month and Toy Story III last weekend. I was quite excited actually... Hehehe...

It's a Walt Disney animated cartoon about a boy called Andy, who owns some of these toys, which actually "came to life" when nobody is around. :).. Quite a creative idea I thought. Anyway, in Toy Story I, the story is about a new toy joining Andy's old toys and some jealousy and rivalry and which later resolved. In Toy Story II, more toys added in. And in Toy Story III, Andy has finally grown up and going to college, so the story is about what he's doing with these toys before leaving to college.

Among all, I love Toy Story III the most. Some parts are really funny, and well, believe it or not, it moved me to tears during the ending. Ya, EG laughed at me, as usual. But yea, I am those type who can cry even over a cartoon, a very small heart I have.

Anyway, it's a nice cartoon series with very good story lines even until the finale. :). And Eunice even learns how to sing the theme song "You've got a friend in me" from the cartoon. Hahaha.. how cute! :)

Toy Story I
Toy Story II

Toy Story III - I love the lotso bear, but he's the evil one! :P

Magnolia

My husband has a very special taste in movies. He collects DVDs, and most of his DVDs are the movies which are not shown in the cinema. It's one of his hobbies to collect good movies, according to him. However, I'm not interested in most of his movies because they are mostly mafia shows, some war shows, or some i-dont-know what show also. It's always violent, and saddening, though he said some of them are real life stories. But one thing I'm sure that these shows will never go up to the cinema because if it ever does, I think half of the movie will be muted, as most of the movies are full of foul languages. :P.

Few nights ago, after my Eunice fell asleep, as I came downstair, I saw EG watching one of his weirdo shows. Since I didn't feel like sleeping yet, I sat down and watched together. And I got hooked! The show talks about coincidence. There're many things going on with different people in the show in 24 hours, and in the end it shows how all these people are related to each other.

We used 2 nights to finish the show (it's 2 hours+ long), and after I finished the show, EG was laughing at me (as this is one of the rare times when I sat down and watched his show), and asked if the show is nice. My answer to him is: If anyone asked me what is this show about, I wouldn't know how to answer! There's no story line or drama going on. It's just some life stories of a few people in a city. Or like wikipedia says: Magnolia is an epic mosaic of several interrelated characters in search of happiness, forgiveness and meaning in the San Fernando Valley.

No doubt, it's very mind throbbing. It makes me think a lot. Even until now I still don't understand some parts of the movie (though I have been reading the synopsis in wiki over and over again). But one thing I learnt in the movie is, there's something called Raining Animals. And in this show, it was raining frogs! Ewwwww.... it was really really gross.....!

I have to agree with EG that it's not a bad movie really. A very different show with bizzare storyline. Just too many foul languages. That's why we can only watch when Eunice is asleep. :)

Alice in Wonderland

I have never gone into the cinema ever since I became a mother. During weekend, I'll be so busy taking care of a child and sitting down quietly to watch a movie is a luxury. I have not been watching a show quietly from start till end for a long time until recently.

Ever since Eunice turns 1, I have been trying to sleep train her - sleeping by herself and sleeping through the night. After some time, she's now able to do it. It makes our lives so much easier nowadays. And she sleeps almost the same time everyday - about 9.30pm. After she sleeps, she'll sleep well (unlike when she was younger - when she'll suddenly wake up to cry) until the next morning. :)

It's now that both me and EG can sit down quietly to watch a show. I watched Alice in Wonderland when EG on it last few days. And he's been very kind by bringing Eunice up to our room and help sleeping her so that I can continue watching the show downstair.

I like the show. Maybe it's a girl show but I really like it. I couldn't take my eyes away from the TV screen. I told EG I'll watch it again on one of the tiring weekends with Eunice. I really like this show. :). I think it'd be even nicer if we can watch it in cinema but it's OK. The DVD that EG got is of good quality and it's nice showing on our 50" plasma. I will watch it again this weekend. :)

Part II.

That's How You Know

On my way back from US last weekend, I watched Enchanted in the flight. (OK I know I am outdated). As usual, there are singings and dancing in cartoons and I love this song in the movie. It gave me goose bumps and teary eyes while listening to it. Who said cartoons are only for kids? It sometime reminds us of things that we grown ups tend to forget or take for granted.

So, how do you show your love to your partner?

Check out the lyrics...

How does she know that you love her?
How do you show her you love her?
How does she know that you really, really, truely love her?

It's not enough to take the one you love for granted
You must remind her, or she'll be inclined to say...
"How do I know he loves me?"
"How do I know he's mine?"

Well does he leave a little note to tell you you are on his mind?
Send you yellow flowers when the sky is grey? Heyy!
He'll find a new way to show you, a little bit everyday
That's how you know, that's how you know!
He's your love...

You've got to show her you need her
Don't treat her like a mind reader
Each day do something to need her
To believe you love her

Everybody wants to live happily ever after
Everybody wants to know their true love is true...
How do you know he loves you?
How do you know he's yours?

Well does he take you out dancin' just so he can hold you close?
Dedicate a song with words in just for you? Ohhh!
He'll find his own way to tell you
With the little things he'll do

That's how you know
That's how you know!

He's your love… He's your love...

That's how you know
He loves you
That's how you know
It's true

Because he'll wear your favorite color
Just so he can match your eyes
Rent a private picnic
By the fires glow-oohh!
His heart will be yours forever
Something everyday will show

That's how you know
He's your love...

Full House

I have not been watching series for a long time. I wasn't Rain's fan also even though i heard of his names 2 years ago. I remembered when a friend asked me if I know where to get the ticket for Rain's concert, I arrogantly and coolly told him I am not his fans.

Lily lent me Full House series before CNY. It's a very old show, yes I know. I think it was shown in TV8 when I was still working in KL 2 years ago. I didn't have time to watch it, and truthfully speaking, I didn't feel like watching it after too much cryings from the other previous series. It's always sad as the main actor/actress will always die - for all sorts of reasons, such as cancer, accident, etc etc.

Work was too stressful and I finally watched it last weekend to relax myself.

As a very predictable person as usual, you can guess! I LOVE THE SHOW TO BITS!!! Before I finished the series, everytime I wake up in the morning, I think of the show. When I am working, I can't wait to go home to continue my series. I have to finish at least 1 DVD (4 episodes) before I go to sleep. If not because of heavy workload here, I might even watch till 4am just to finish it! I even thought of bringing the DVD to office and watch it. And I watched the last episodes 2 times!! Now you believe how much I love the show? :)

It's a comedy. It's about Rain & Song Hye Kyo got married on a contract, with their own hidden purposes, but later on fell in love to each other. Standard plot, I know. But when I watched it, my feeling grows as their feelings for each other grow naturally, from hatred on each other, to concern and slowly become love. It's just too sweet for me to take it. Too sweet!

My emotion followed the series. Whenever Song Hye Kyo cries, I'll also cry, so badly till I got headache the next day and gave EG a big shocked as he never thought I could cry that bad over a series! I can feel her heart pain and the hurt when Rain was trying to deny his feelings for her. Their behaviors which truly show their love for each others unconsciously are just so natural that it can easily bring a smile or even tears to my face. When Rain finally faces himeself and confesses his love to Song Hye Kyo, I almost melted. Is this a girl's thing again? Hmmm...

Anyway, now, Rain's stupid smiling face is stucked in my head. I can't get him out. He's not a romantic guy in this series, but at least he's cute, very cute, and very the-man. *Blushed*

Word can't describe how much I love the series, you got to watch it yourself. If I like Sonria Pasta for 80%, then I LOVE Full House for 200%!! For those who love romantic comedy, this is definitely not a miss!! You just have to watch it!

EG? Ahh... He asked me never watch this kind of series anymore as it's affecting our relationship. *wink*.

Sonria Pasta / 微笑Pasta

I have been noticing about this Taiwanese series showing in Astro AEC from 9pm - 10pm daily. My first impression on the movie was, another lame movies with lame jokes and lame conversations, or another Meteor Garden (which I was once fell in love with).

When I have the control of TV remote at home, I don't know why but I'll switch to this channel and watch it. And guess what, OK, I am addicted to it now.

It's a sweet movie. OK, like I said, the plot might be lame, but things that they said touched my heart. It's really sweet and I can easily fall for all these things. I don't know why, but it's just ME.

In Sonria Pasta, it's about a sweet "war" between Cindy Ong and Nicholas Teo. They quarrel everyday, but yet they like each other so much till they want to force each other to confess. It brings a smile to my face after a hectic day. Somehow, I think I been through that when I was once young. Another thing that touches my heart is how supportive Cindy's family is in the movie, that caused her to be so determined in everything that she does, no matter how stupid it is.

All in all, I am touched, by all the little little things that are done by both Cindy and Nicholas to show their love to each other, subconsciously -- that's the sweetest part. As said, to touch someone's heart, you do not need to do any big things, but it's the small small little things that will touch them deeply. I think, it's fully shown in this series.

And I also fell in love with the ending songs -
北极星的眼泪. I managed to download it this morning, and I'll just keep listening for the whole day, week, or even months, till I am bored. Well, that's just ME again.

Alright, it's just a girl thing then.

凤凰四重奏

I saw this movie in TVB website for quite some times, and read about their good comments also. During Raya holiday 6 days break, I found the DVD at EG's place and started watching it.

The series describes the love stories of the main actress and actor (佘诗曼 and 马德钟) in 4 different generations, i.e. 1900, 1954, 1975 and finally 21st century. The show consists of 30 episodes, which is quite long, I thought.

When I was watching the first two generations, I almost wanted to kill myself as the story was bitter, very sad and very long winded. In the first generation, both of them were in love but she had to marry another shitty guy in order to save her father's business (same old stories). So, in the movie, she loves him, he loves her, and their loves were only conveyed to each other through their eyes when they look into each other. She had a daughter in the end (of course it's with her real husband) and both of them died together in some accident.... Haih.....

The 2nd generation, the daughter (acted by 佘诗曼 also) was a student and the guy (acted by 马德钟) was the teacher. It's the era when chinese were fighting against the japanese or the other invaders to China. And it's also the era when the younger generations were fighting for freedom in love, rather than letting the parents to decide. So how? Run away lo... and long stories in between where they were working hard for money and bla bla bla bla bla.... Finally they got seperated again because the guy joined some secret community to fight againt the japs and left the wife and their daughter in China... and then somehow the wife, the daughter and the granddaughter moved to Hong Kong.

I almost gave up when i finally finished the 2nd generation. However, if you know me, I won't give up so easily so I went on!

When it comes to the 3rd generation, things started to get interesting. This is the generation where guys are super ego, and girls are expected to only be the housewife and be very obedient. Conflicts happen when the wife, again the same actress, went out to work and become her husband's, the same actor, boss. This generation is very funny. The way they talked as well as the way they walked can burst me into laughter. EG is watching it with me every night as he's addicted with this generation and immitated the way the guys talk every night. It's irritating but it's really funny!

I still have almost 10 episodes to go to finish the show but, as usual, I have read the sypnopsis for the whole drama so I know what's going to happen in the end... Hehehehe...

Anyway, this is a real interesting drama showing the main difference between the 4 different generations, and how all our mind has actually "evolved". If you have time to stick to the TV, do give this series a try!!
